At One Church, we are passionate about the growth and development of young people. We offer a variety of youth groups, discipleship groups, large events, and outreach activities for 11 to 18 year olds in Leicester, as well as a Sunday group for 11 to 14 year olds. Our liturgy group meets four times a year to plan services for the future, such as Lent and Easter, Advent and Christmas, penitential services, memorial services, holidays, and other special occasions.
The Finance Committee is responsible for helping the pastor manage parish funds effectively. They meet approximately four times a year to review the financial situation of the parish and make sure that there are sufficient funds available to cover current expenses and financial obligations. The Jesus Youth Group is an international Catholic movement approved by the Holy See. It was born out of the charismatic revival in Kerala, India, but is now active in more than 34 countries around the world. We are guided by the Holy Spirit and strive to ensure that altar servers feel safe when participating in the Holy Mass.
Serving at the altar provides many new experiences as there are many altar boys who serve mass daily at Sacred Heart. This allows them to connect with each other through their shared faith and come together as one in Christ. Office angels are the face of the parish and must always be friendly, welcoming, polite, and efficient. This role is very rewarding and provides a great opportunity to meet people from the parish. The Children Liturgy Group was created when Bishop Patrick asked parishes to focus on “encounter, discipleship and missionary discipleship”.
It has been one of our most successful initiatives and has made a real difference. The Property Group works closely with the Finance Committee to manage our church and hall ownership, analyze maintenance needs, and ensure that we comply with 26% health safety guidelines. We also organize courses such as Youth Alpha and Christianity Explored which help introduce Jesus and explore what Christians believe.
